| 「窯変」のことを英語で表すと デフォルメーションと言う。 他方、「奇形」や「醜悪化」など 一見するとネガティブな変化を意味する言葉でもある。 しかしながら、あえてその言葉を使わせて欲しい。 |
| 寺田鉄平のデフォルメーションは 単に色彩や質感の変化に興じて楽しむだけのものではなく、 陶芸を通じて挑戦する 美的価値観の進化の過程である。 |

| The English word for “Yo-Hen” is called "deformation”. On the other hand, it is a word that at first glance implies a negative change like “anomaly” or "disfigurement" However, let me dare to use that word. TERADA Teppei’s deformation is not simply a matter of playing with color and texture, but is an evolving process of aesthetic values that he challenges through ceramics. TERADA Teppei, whose reputation as a leading contemporary ceramic artist as well as ORIBE artist is growing year by year, will hold his third solo exhibition at PAKUPAKUAN. The exhibition focuses on "Kiln Transformation," which has been the focus of much attention in recent years, and introduces works that contain an explosion of energy concentrated in the kiln, as if to transform not only the texture and color, but also the aesthetic values of the work. A variety of new works from tea bowls and tea ceremony utensils to sake cups, flower vases, and tableware will be exhibited. Let’s take a look at where TERADA Teppei, aka "ORIBEAST," is today, as he combines both lightness and stylishness with a solidity! |
